Tips in reviewing for the Nursing Board Exam (PNLE)

Preparing for the board exam is not that easy, it takes a lot of courage, perseverance and hardwork.  Its just like a training before facing a war. I understand its hard but less assured when you take it seriously and by heart you'll able to overcome it. Here are some tips I applied when I was reviewing for the board exams:

*Manage your time. You can create a schedule or plan of activities. You can schedule every subjects with an aloted time. Time is crucial, time important, time is your enemy.

*You can review atleast 3 hours a day, excluding the time in your review class.

*Dont be absent, late or sleep in your review class.. you might miss some important lessons that may come out to your exam.

*Eat healthy foods, take some vitamins and exercise.. Sickness can be an element of destruction.

*Refrain from watching tv, music and lessen your surfing hours. If music can aid you... you can do so.

*Lessen hang outs and chitchats with friends, can be in medium of text, phone calls and chat.

*Have enough sleep and rest.. if you are reviewing for 2 hrs have yourself a rest for 15 mins.

*Dont study near or where you can see your bed.. there will be a mentality or tendency for you to become sleepy.

*If much as possible you can try reviewing during early morning.. where your mind is fresh and no one will dare to disturb you.

*Refrain from listening from loud and rock music.. you may try listening to classical and relaxing music.

*You can post your notes or signages in your room for you to be reminded about your lessons and exam.

*Post also a calendar in your room.. mark the exam date and cross out the passed days.. for you to know the remaining days.

*When reviewing time yourself with an alarm clock or a timer.. for you to be aware of the time.

*Dont be felt pressure, if you're tired dont force yourself lesson wont sink to your mind.. panicking and cramming wont help also.

*Dont settle with your book or review notes or lessons.. take some time to answer past board  questions.. for you to be aware what board exam questions are and what strategies you'll make while  answering it.

These are just my suggestions and practices that you can apply when reviewing for the board exam.. just enjoy it, take it one at a time and take it as a challenge.. The things you work hard for, are the things you deserve and goals that you'll achieve. Hope it can help.....

Bacolod Masskara Festival

Every October! Visit Bacolod City and let’s celebrate the MassKara Festival!
Kari na sa Bacolod kag magsinadya kita sa MassKara! (Come to Bacolod and let’s have fun at MassKara Festival!)
Every month of October in Bacolod, the City is celebrating the MassKara Festival. MassKara Festival is one of the famous and colorful festivals in the Philippines.
Bacolod City is the capital of Negros Occidental and is the “Sugar Capital” of the Philippines. It is the biggest and highly urbanized city in the island of Negros, the fourth biggest island in the Philippine archipelago. Bacolod is also known as the “City of Smiles” because of the sweet smiling faces of Negrenses.
Could say that MassKara Festival is the happiest festival in the country, but knowing its history is also to learn more of the drive and happy disposition of the Negrenses.
History
MassKara is coined from two words: Mass, which means “many, or multitude,” and Kara, a Spanish word for “face,” thus MassKara is a mass or multitude of smiling faces.
It rose from the gloom that enveloped the city in the 1980s, a period of tragedy and economic dislocation.
During this period, the prices of sugar in the world market were at an all-time low. Negrenses, including Bacoleños, were in a crisis as the province only relied in the sugar industry then.
The depression was further aggravated when passenger vessel Don Juan sank on April 22, where an estimated 700 Negrenses, including prominent families, perished.
In the midst of these tragic events, the city’s artists, local government and civic groups decided to hold a festival of smiles, because the city at that time was also known as the City of Smiles.
They reasoned that a festival was also a good opportunity to pull the residents out of the pervasive gloomy atmosphere. The initial festival was therefore, a declaration by the people of the city that no matter how tough and bad the times were, Bacolod City is going to pull through, survive, and in the end, triumph.
This act of collectively fighting back at life’s troubles is embodied in the MassKara Streetdancing lyrics: Sige lang… sige na! Bacolod bato kita! (It’s okay… it’s alright! No matter what adversity, Bacolod fights on!)
For Bacoleños, MassKara is a celebration and expression of thanks for the abundance of blessings life brings them.
Every year, the festival theme changes but one thing for sure is that it focuses on the transformation of Bacolod! MassKara is a celebration of everything the Bacolod community has achieved and worth celebrating.
What to Do and to Expect
Expect (heavy) traffic and re-routing of jeepneys. Lacson Street, also known as the tourism strip every MassKara Festival is being closed for the Electric MassKara Streetdancing Competition. This year it will be on October 14-15. This is where you can walk freely on the streets, drink beer, eat, dance and celebrate with live bands on the big stages setup by different establishment in Lacson. A happy street party!
If you’re not from Bacolod and you plan to go and celebrate the City’s MassKara Festival, it is best that you plan ahead especially if you’ll be staying in a hotel. Hotels in Bacolod even pension houses are already fully booked a month during the date of the festival highlights: the streetdancing competition on October 15-16. Next option is to stay at your friends’ house if you know someone in Bacolod and haven’t booked a hotel yet.
Ride a jeepney, not a taxi! You’ll save more especially if you’re stuck in traffic.
Since it’s the start of the rainy season, expect and be ready to get wet if you want to watch the streetdancing competition live on the streets. Bring an umbrella with you!
Wear your most comfortable footwear. You’ll be taking a very long walk (expect kilometers).
Beware of pickpockets!

How to Get There
The global location of Bacolod City is 10 degrees, 40 minutes 40 seconds – north and 122 degrees 54 minutes 25 seconds – east with Bacolod Public Plaza as the benchmark.
From Manila, you can fly to Bacolod (Php2500++, round trip, 45 minutes). From Bacolod-Silay Airport, you can take a shuttle (Php75-100 per head), or a cab and ask to be dropped off to your hotel.

Most visited churches by PNLE takers

Prior to board exam, some  takers take time to visit some churches. Some say they are miraculous.. some say it grants their wishes and prayers. I talked to some successful board passers and they suggested some.

St. Jude Thaddeus
1420 J. P. Laurel Sr. St. San Miguel, Manila City, Metro Manila

Some Board passers went to this church to cast their prayers and wishes.. most prayers where granted after the board exam results.. take time to lit red and white rose shaped candles beside the church.

May check novenas and prayers to this site: http://www.rcam.org/novena-guide/250-novena-prayer-to-st-jude-thaddeus- or their actual site at: http://stjudemanila.com/

Quiapo Church
The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (canonically known as Saint John the Baptist Parish and informally as Quiapo Church) is a prominent Roman Catholic Latin-rite basilica located in the District of Quiapo in the City of ManilaPhilippines. The church is famous as the shrine of the Black Nazarene, a dark statue of Jesus Christ which many faithful claim to have miraculous powers.

One of the most  visited churches in the Philippines.. Some takers visit this church as well. most people say that the Black Nazarene grant also their prayers and wishes. Just expect of bunch of people and devotees inside the church. Beware of snatchers that may take advantage as well.. Dont forget to lit some candles beside the church.

National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

The National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (FilipinoPambansáng Dambana ng Ina ng Laging Saklolo) also known asRedemptorist Church and colloquially the Baclaran Church.

Baclaran is known for its Marian devotees, takers usually come here to ask for guidance, support and prayers. Most people and takers say that the that Our mother of Perpetual Help, grants whatever wish you have. not just for passing the board but as well as personal intentions. feel free also to buy flowers for the mother and light some candles beside the church.. expect also for a heavy crowd every Wednesday or of every first Wednesday of the month which is also known as the Baclaran day.

St. Clair Church

St. Clair Church is located in Katipunan, going there is simple by just riding a jeepney from UP Diliman or by just riding a LRT 2 and just drop by the Katipunan station, south wing. From there you can walk to your right and pass under the bridge.. and youll see vendors which will lead you to the church's entrance.

Most of board takers visits this place, they say its miraculous and proven grants people's wishes. A lot gives testimonials about the said miracle. Upon entering youll see vendors of eggs which are usually offered to St. Clair. You can buy those eggs for just 35 pesos and covered by the color coded translucent paper, which signifies your personal intentions. You will see there also the image of St. Clair and a wishing fountain in the facade of the church. Fresh sampaguita flowers are usually hung beside the image's feet. Beside the church you'll see a row of tables and chairs intended for you to write your wishes and prayers. A guard will provide you pieces of papers and a pencil. You may also bring your exam paraphernalia and rosaries, you may ask them to be blessed. Dont  forget to pray or light a candle inside the church. And lastly dont forget to wish and  toss a  coin in the wishing fountain.. Some says most wishes are granted if you'll be able to shoot your coin on the top most level of the fountain.

I actually visited this churches and somehow helped me to boost my confidence and somehow guided me as well in facing the board exam..  Thankful for granting my wishes.

Mongol Pencil vs Faber Castell Pencil

During board exams pencil no. 2 is used to shade the scantron or the answer sheet. Some uses Mongol some prefer  Faber castell.

Whats good with Mongol pencil no.2? Its cheap, you can buy it anywhere, you can buy it even outside the exam area. Its the traditional pencil which is used for exams. Has a ready to use eraser on top. Has easy grip due to its octagon diameter or shape. Can be easily sharpen.. Its down side: Some are fake, lead and some have cracks which easily break. Some not preferred for heavy shading, its messy, fragments of lead are spread in your sheet. Shading spreads when touched, will find your hands dirty after exam.. You'll suffer if your hands easily becomes wet or if left handed.

With Faber castell no.2, better choose the exam pack.. Some review centers prefer to use it, they say that it only commits low percentage of errors compared with mongol. They run tests between those pencils, and shades from faber are accepted by the machine versus shades from mongol. The lead doesnt easily break, not yet commercialized. It also has a great grip effect due to its diameter.  Its not messy and shades doesnt easily spread. No fragments from the pencil and has consistency with shading. Its down side is that its more expensive and can buy it in major bookstores or department stores.

These are just my thoughts about the two pencils, and only gave suggestions. I'm not saying that when you use this specific pencil it will give you the assurance that you'll pass the exam.. Passing depends with the examiner, the readiness and the confidence in facing the battle. The results comes with you, not with the pencil and not with anybody else.
